ANNOUNCEMENT – NEW DIRECTOR APPOINTED

The Ducor Institute for Social & Economic Research is delighted to announce that Mr Aaron Weah has been appointed our new Director, effective 6 May 2024. Mr Weah is a final-year PhD scholar at the Transitional Justice Institute, University of Ulster in Northern Ireland, UK, and has been a founding fellow supporting research and institutional development at the institute. His previous experience includes serving as the Country Director of the Search for Common Ground, Liberia Programme, and as a Policy Analyst at Liberia's Governance Commission (GC). Mr. Weah's scholarship is focused on the impact of political violence on post-war Liberia, transitional justice, memory and identity, grassroots memory, ethno-nationalism, and state and nation-building.

Our founding Director, Ibrahim Al-Bakri Nyei, PhD, has resigned to assume the Deputy Minister for International Cooperation and Economic Integration role at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Liberia. Since establishing the Institute in 2022, Nyei has successfully developed an organizational structure for social science research and policy advisory and connected it with other stakeholders in government, academia, civil society, and the not-for-profit sector in Liberia and beyond. We appreciate Nyei’s hard work and dedication and wish him all the best in his new role.
