Abstract:

On 10 October 2023, Liberians will vote in their country’s fourth post-war presidential and general elections against the backdrop of commemorating 20 years of ‘peace’. These polls could either strengthen or weaken the extraordinary electoral trends that set Liberia apart from other African countries. In this Ducor Policy Dialogue, Robtel Neajai Pailey and David Harris will draw on insights from their scholarly article “‘We Don’t Know Who Be Who’: Post-party Politics, Forum Shopping and Liberia’s 2017 Elections”, published in the journal Democratization in 2020, to reflect on whether 2023 will likely bring continuity or change. The speakers encourage all participants to read their analysis in advance for an informed and engaged discussion [click ‘Download full-text PDF’ to access the full article]: https://bit.ly/42iY1Kt.
